Industrial Research Experience

  • [2013 to Date]Center of Automotive Research, FORD MOTOR Company, USA:
  • 1. Health Monitoring of Li-ion Battery Systems: A Median Expectation-based Diagnosis Approach (MEDA):
    – Developed a median-based filter for diagnosing the dynamic patterns of state in Lithium-ion batteries at cell-level. The research was published in IEEE Transactions on Transportation Electrification.
  • 2. Current-Split Estimation in Li-Ion Battery Pack: An Enhanced Weighted Recursive Filter Method:
    – Developed a recursive weighted-covariance based estimation method (RWEM) to estimate the current-split of each set of parallel cells in a battery pack. The research was published in IEEE Transactions on Transportation Electrification.
  • 3. Look-Ahead Control Research Competition at SCANIA Trucks:
    – PSRL is teaming up with CAR Laboratories to develop a real-time look-ahead controller for SCANIA trucks.
  • [2004 to Date] Saudi ARAMCO, Dhahran, Saudi Arabia:
  • 4) Oil Permeability Analysis [NSTIP Funded Project with Dr. Rahim]:
    – Analysis of oil permeability at different depths of wells.Based on analysis, deduce the feasibility of drilling more wells, particularly in northern area of the east province. Data analysis, classification & localization to reduce the cost of laser drilling.
  • 5) Research Grant Proposal Writing:
    – Worked on developing research grant proposals in the areas of oil-well permeability classification, and oscillation monitoring.
  • 6) Internship at Dental Labs and Tube Systems:
    – Commissioned computerized pneumatic-based tube systems.Hands-on experience in developing patterns of molds for dental procedures.
  • 7) Internship at Roto-clave Sterilization Unit:
    – Hands-on experience with utility & facility maintenance systems.Studied operation & mechanism for the roto-clave sterilizers.
  • 8) Internship at Building Management Systems:
    – Worked on fire alarm systems.Hands-on experience for handling the security breach at central operating unit.
