2013-2016 | Haris M. Khalid and Jimmy C.-H.Peng

It has been an honor and great pleasure to work at PSRL, Masdar Institute, and have a mentor like Dr. Jimmy C. -H. Peng in my career history. I had been able to work on a number of quality research work under his supervision, which includes research grant proposal writing, IEEE Transactions, mentoring and supervision of research for master students, delivering guest lectures and talks at corporate venues. I developed novel architectures for monitoring and detecting electromechanical oscillations in the presence of perturbation and cyber-attacks. The work was recognized twice in IEEE Trans. on Power Systems, and once in IEEE Trans. on Smart Grid. Moreover, we also collaborated with Ohio State University for the development of median-based expectation operator and estimator for capturing fast system dynamics. The idea was applied in the field of electric vehicles and lithium ion batteries. The ideas were accepted twice in IEEE Trans. on Transportation Electrification. Moreover, they were also appreciated by Professor Giorgio Rizzoni (Ford Motor Company Chair) for a possible joint research proposal project. During my tenure at Masdar Institute, I was able to publish 6 IEEE transactions, 1 IET Journal, and 4 peer-reviewed Conferences which also included the prestigious American Control Conference (ACC).
